2024 HPTN Annual Network Meeting and HANC

June 14-18, 2024 | Washington, DC

Team HANC comprised of Deputy Director Brian Minalga, Legacy Project Manager Cat Banobi, and Cross-Network Project Manager Kathleen Pescasio experienced all the HPTN 2024 Annual Network Meeting had to offer.

This year's meeting brought together hundreds of researchers, community representatives, partner organizations, and funders to discuss the Network's scientific agenda and the state of HIV prevention research. Attendees (in-person and virtual) received updates on HPTN research and new information in the HIV prevention field, helping move the science forward.

The team enjoyed a joint plenary from the HPTN and the ACTG. HANC’s network coordination hearts were happy to see the sharing of knowledge across networks! Among other topics, the audience heard about critical factors for improving outcomes for key populations, addressing drug resistance, and different ART and PrEP options. One of the upcoming studies to improve outcomes for key populations is HPTN 113 (DUO), and the study team was kind enough to chat with Team Legacy about what their study will do and why it’s important. More to come from this important study!

More also to come from both HPTN and ACTG Networks regarding recurring topics at the meetings such as engaging young people, emphasizing HIV and aging, and the need for robust implementation science and behavioral science as efforts continue to ensure that interventions are as successful as possible for key populations.
