WEBINAR: Pressing ‘Pause’ on HIV Treatment: Examining ‘Analytical Treatment Interruptions’ for HIV Research
“Drug holidays” have long been controversial when it comes to HIV medication. Recently, however, analytical treatment interruptions (ATIs) have become more common in HIV clinical research. ATIs involve medically monitored pauses in antiretroviral therapy for the research purpose of testing another HIV intervention – for example, investigational HIV cure-related strategies. But ATIs are not without challenges, either. The Second Consensus Statement on ATI Recommendations was recently published in Lancet HIV. Join us to learn about the updated recommendations, share your reactions, and discuss implications for the future of HIV research with a focus on the NIH-funded HIV clinical trials networks.

HVTN's 10th Translational HIV Vaccine Early Stage Investigator (ESI) Conference
The HIV Vaccine Trials Network (HVTN) will host its 10th Translational HIV Vaccine Early Stage Investigator (ESI) Conference in San Antonio, Texas from October 19-20, 2026, prior to the NHP AIDS Symposium, which will occur from October 20-23, 2026.
This conference is intended for ESIs who focus on translational HIV research in non-human primates (NHPs), or clinical HIV and TB research, and are within 10 years of completing their terminal research degree (PhD, MD, DVM), medical residency, or equivalent. Investigators will participate in career mentoring and networking designed for ESI working in translational HIV research. Past attendees have stated that the Conference has increased their skills and knowledge for career development and provided them with a venue to form new collaborations.
